How Can We Truly Touch the Heart at Christmas? How Can We Have a Bigger Heart?

If each of us, just a few days before Christmas, tried to understand what truly has the power to touch the heart, we wouldn’t find the answer in the dream lists sent to Santa Claus during Black Friday... nor in the many carefully wrapped gifts under the tree. Not even in a beautifully set table or on a plane heading to the most sought-after holiday destination.

Because if we looked a little deeper, we would realize that what really makes the difference is not so much what we do, but for whom we do it. In a sense, it’s others who make the difference—because what truly matters is what I do for others.

And suddenly, that dream list, those packages, the festive table, and that amazing trip take on a whole new meaning—if shared with someone else, if done for someone else. Because our hearts were made to reach out, to be given to others. We are masterpieces made in the image and likeness of the One who was born in utter poverty, just to show the world this truth: love is the only thing that truly touches the heart—so much so that it leads one to give even their life for others, just as He did, He who created our hearts and loved them deeply.

So, how do we touch the heart at Christmas? How do we have a bigger heart?
“Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap.” (Luke 6:38)
This is the Word of God—and God keeps His word!
